Under the Data Protection Act 1998, the AES’s trustees are the data controllers of your information. AES trustees, staff and all its representatives must be aware and comply with the Data Protection Act 1988 and/or guidance from the Information Commission when they collect or handle data about an individual.
 
AES will only collect information that is needed to help it carry out the legitimate purposes of its work. AES will always ask your permission to collect any information about you and explain to you how it will use data supplied by you.
 
Third party data access
 
We will only pass your data to a third party with your consent and we will ensure that a written contract is in place to ensure a third party adheres to the Data Protection Act. If we receive requests for data as part of a legal requirement, such as a request from the police, we will ask, if possible, for requests to be put in writing before data is disclosed.
